The European Green Belt, our shared natural heritage along the line of the former Iron Curtain, is to be conserved and restored as an ecological network connecting high-value natural and cultural landscapes while respecting the economic, social and cultural needs of local communities.



8th Pan-European Green Belt Conference

23.-26. September 2014, Slavonice (Czech Republic)

The 8th Pan-European Conference of the European Green Belt Initiative will be held from 23. to 26. September 2014 in Slavonice, Czech Republic. About 100 international participants from nearly all Green Belt countries as well as from Canada and the U.S. will discuss the current status and future opportunities of the developing of this longest ecological network and memorial landscape passing through Europe.

Next important steps for the establishment of a long-term organizational structure of the European Green Belt Initiative will be undertaken. Furthermore representatives of countries having not signed the Joint Declaration of Intent on the European Green Belt, have the opportunity to sign it during the conference.

The 8th Pan-European Green Belt Conference is jointly organized by BUND Project Office Green Belt and EuroNatur within the current R+D project “Advancing the European Green Belt” in cooperation with the Centre for the Future Slavonice and Nadace Partnerství (Czech Environemntal Partnership Foundation) supported by the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) with means of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety.
