The European Green Belt, our shared natural heritage along the line of the former Iron Curtain, is to be conserved and restored as an ecological network connecting high-value natural and cultural landscapes while respecting the economic, social and cultural needs of local communities.



Threats for the Baltic Green Belt

The coasts of the Baltic Green Belt have experienced a tremendous boom since the early 1990s. Tourism, harbour and marina development, sand and wood extraction, bridge and power constructions have been spreading out and seriously harm the natural heritage.
