The so-called EU BEST-project (Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services in EU Overseas Countries and Territories) shall be replicated in an adjusted way to the European Green Belt context. The objective is to enable, empower and strengthen local initiatives and civil society organisations which are committed to local development, biodiversity conservation and sustainable use of ecosystem services. The webinar served as a starting point to inform about the opportunities of a BEST Belt-project. Together with representatives of the EU Parliament and Commission as well as actors from the European Green Belt Initiative, we learned about the specific characteristics of the European Green Belt, explored 2 regions in detail (Baltic and Balkan section) and discussed opportunities of a BEST project to boost the developement of the European Green Belt.
