From 7-13 September, we, the Association of Back to Nature Youth and Sport Club organized the Thrace bird migration monitoring camp on the European Green Belt section at the border area between Turkey and Bulgaria. Thirty young participants from different parts of Turkey joined us in Kırklareli. They learned from experts about birds and bird migration so that they can pass on their knowledge to protect the species. The young bird lovers were accompanied by the experts to the beautiful and inspiring bird migration observation study fields.

All participants visited the Iğneada Floodplain Forests National Park and Gala Lake National Park and entered their data of observation into the Species Database. During the camp, both participant groups had a chance to watch raptor migration and learned about many species of birds in the wetlands they visited.

The bird monitoring camp was part of the CB005.2.12.108 “Eagles Beyond Borders” project which is funded under the second call of the Interreg-IPA CBC Bulgaria – Turkey Programme 2014 – 2020.
