BESTbelt Baltic Regional Conference at the Latvian coast convened!

 

Participants from several countries and organisations of the Baltic Region of the European Green Belt convened in Liepāja (Latvia) from 29 September to 1 October 2026. They discussed what makes the Baltic Green Belt unique and why it stands out. Furthermore, participants discussed the Baltic Green Belt’s ‘blue side’, focusing on BESTbelt projects that worked on the restoration of coastal habitats, such as sand dunes, as well as biodiversity monitoring and protected area management along the coastline. As the conference drew to a close, participants also looked to the future, discussing funding opportunities, important future activities, and how to build on the results of BESTbelt projects. On the last day, there was an excursion to former military port facilities.
