Getting excited? The European Green Belt Days 2026 are almost here!

It's celebration season! The European Green Belt Days 2026 will feature activities across various countries, offering an opportunity to explore and support the European Green Belt in each host region. Explore the celebrations and find out where you can join in!

 

Every year, organisations along the European Green Belt find fresh and creative ways to celebrate the nature and culture that make their regions unique. Yet beneath this local diversity lies a powerful shared story: no matter how far apart they take place, all celebrations are united under a common theme — the 12,500-kilometre European Green Belt, a living corridor that stretches across Europe and connects people from 24 countries across borders.

In 2026, a vibrant programme of celebrations will unfold along the Central European and Balkan sections of the European Green Belt. In the transboundary region of Austria, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia, participants are invited to discover the Thaya and March rivers and their rich ecosystems on a guided canoe trip. Also in Austria, the Naturschutzbund will run several hands-on conservation activities where locals can roll up their sleeves and get directly involved. In Italy, a guided tour along the former Iron Curtain on the Italian–Slovenian border will reveal the region's intertwined natural and historical heritage. Meanwhile, in North Macedonia and Bulgaria, two former BESTbelt projects will bring people together through an educational hike on Ilinska Mountain and an engaging workshop exploring the ecological and cultural value of native fruit varieties.

With so many exciting activities ahead, there are plenty of reasons to get involved.
