Information webinar on the future European Green Belt Hiking Trail
The European Green Belt Association, together with the European Hiking Federation and the European Mountaineering Association, organised an information webinar on a future European Green Belt Hiking Trail. The webinar aimed to share information about the unique history of the European Green Belt, as well as its transformation into Europe's longest green network and a symbol of peace and cross-border collaboration.

On 28 May 2025, the European Green Belt Association, in collaboration with the European Hiking Federation and the European Mountaineering Association, organised an information webinar for their members on the latest developments regarding the future European Green Belt Hiking Trail. During the webinar, the European Green Belt Association shared their vision for the trail and provided background information about the European Green Belt and the related long-standing initiative. The European Hiking Federation also presented their E-Paths system: a network of long-distance trails linking national and regional hiking routes, enabling hikers to experience Europe's natural and cultural heritage.
Following the introductory presentations, there was an opportunity for questions and answers.
The idea of a European Green Belt Hiking Trail, which would provide an extraordinary hiking experience while leveraging the natural and cultural treasures along this unique ecological network, received a very positive response. Such a trail would raise awareness of conservation and Europe's history, open up cross-border collaboration opportunities, and boost local economies through sustainable tourism.
However, realising a European Green Belt Hiking Trail will require many steps, so there is still a long way to go! Stay tuned for more updates!
