The Austrian League for Nature Conservation (Naturschutzbund Österreich) is once again organising European Green Belt Camps this summer to protect and restore the European Green Belt in Austria.

At almost 13,000 kilometres, the European Green Belt is the longest biotope network in the world. In this area, which was little influenced by humans during the Cold War, natural refuges with many special animals and plants were able to develop. In order to preserve and maintain these valuable areas, the Austrian League for Nature Conservation (Naturschutzbund Österreich) is once again organising European Green Belt Camps this summer. They start at the beginning of August in Upper Austria. Anyone who has not yet made any plans for the summer holidays is cordially invited to help out.

In many places in Austria, the European Green Belt is characterised by extensive cultivated landscapes. In order to preserve the nutrient-poor grasslands, wet meadows, moorland and heathland, which are valuable for nature conservation, they must be regularly maintained - often by hand. The nature conservation organisation is still looking for committed volunteers for the summer:

Austria's oldest nature conservation organisation is therefore inviting nature enthusiasts aged 18 and over to lend a hand for rare species during the holidays and help to sustainably safeguard the remarkable abundance of nature along the European Green Belt in Austria. At the camps in Upper and Lower Austria, in addition to communal work such as clearing wet meadows or mowing rough grassland, the local area and its regional diversity are also explored.

Discussions and professional dialogue round off the European Green Belt Camps. Through their support, the participants make an irreplaceable contribution to the protection and preservation of the diverse biotopes along the European Green Belt in Austria.
