New BESTbelt small grant project video is out!
The third video in the BESTbelt small grant project series takes you straight to the March-Thaya floodplains. This landscape features vast bodies of water and periodically flooded riparian forests and is located in the European Green Belt in Austria.
In the newest BESTbelt project video, we're following the project "Discovering Hidden Gems: An Educational Journey through the March-Thaya Floodplain Green Belt for All Ages", led by AURING Biologische Station Hohenau-Ringelsdorf. The project's mission is to connect people of all ages with this remarkable ecosystem through immersive, hands-on education.
Project activities include:
🎭 Kamishibai theatre on beavers for kindergartens
🐸 A book for children and school visits with Scooper, the newt detective dog, who helps protect newts in the field
🎙️ Student-created podcast episodes on the European Green Belt
🐦 Bird-watching events and multilingual bird brochures for adults
The goal is simple but powerful: without local awareness and community involvement, conservation efforts falter. This project makes sure they don't. 💚

The project "Discovering Hidden Gems: An Educational Journey through the March-Thaya Floodplain Green Belt for All Ages" is implemented by AURING Biologische Station Hohenau Ringelsdorf from October 2024 to September 2026 and is funded by the BESTbelt project.
