As part of the German Federal Government’s International Climate Initiative (IKI), the IKI Small Grants programme supports organisations worldwide in tackling climate change, strengthening local adaptation, and protecting forests and biodiversity. In addition to financial support, participating organisations benefit from capacity-building measures to grow into strong, effective local actors.

At COP30 in Belém, Brazil, IKI Small Grants launched its 7th International Call for Proposals. The call is targeted at local organisations in ODA-eligible countries with an average annual revenue between €60,000 and €500,000. Eligible applicants can receive project funding between €60,000 and €200,000 for local or regional climate and biodiversity initiatives.

Project proposals must focus on one or more of the following IKI funding areas:

  • Mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions
  • Adaptation to the impacts of climate change
  • Conserving natural carbon sinks with a focus on reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation
  • Conserving biological diversity

Local organisations are now invited to apply for support to advance climate action and biodiversity conservation. Registration is open until 15 January 2026.
