Your shot: Photo competition "NATURE AND COLD WAR. Evolving environments along the former Iron Curtain”

For more than 40 years, the Cold War imposed a special regime on the border areas between East and West Europe, militarising them and preventing their management and use. What have they become? A Photo competition tries to reveal answers.

Now, 30 years after the fall of the Iron Curtain, this question is in focus of the currently ongoing photo competition "NATURE AND COLD WAR. Evolving environments along the former Iron Curtain", aimig to:

  1. Focus attention on the evolution of the border areas between Italy and Slovenia directly affected or influenced by the presence of the Iron Curtain.
  2. Focus attention on man's impact on natural environments and their ability to either resist or adapt.
  3. Enhance the natural and cultural heritage created in the region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and Slovenia as a result of the regulations and restrictions on usage imposed by the Cold War on both sides of the border.

Anyone is welcome to take part in the competition!
